"Revell-Monogram 1/32 Jim Hall #66 Chaparral 2 Road America June Sprints 1965 ..." Overview

Jim Hall, born 1935, was famed throughout the world as a racing driver, Formula 1 driver and designer. Born in Texas, he was a founder of Chaparral Cars in Midland, Texas. Chaparral was noted for its use of advance materials and aerodynamic design to improve performance of its car. The Chaparrals were some of the most innovative cars of the nineteen sixties. The Chaparral 2 was the first racing car to conspicuously distance itself from the competition. Jim Hall and his team mate James Sharp, whose nickname Hap derived from his birthday on January 1st (Happy New Year), outclassed the competition when he won numerous races throughout the USA, including the spectacular June sprint races in Road America 1965. This slot car is a 1/32 scale replica of the Chaparral 2 that he drove at Road America in 1965. It also comes with its own display case. Please be advised that Revell-Monogram used the same artwork on the packaging for this Jim Hall #66 slot car and the Hap Sharp #65 slot car so that the image shown on the sleeve for this model is of the #65 driven by Hap Sharp.
